Hopes and dreams have become reality for thousands of musicians that began using their own home recording studio and tons of drive and determination to lay the next greatest head pounding, hip rocking, rump shaking track that the world has ever heard. It is truly amazing how creative “would be musicians” can be when they don’t yet have even two pennies to rub together starting out. Egg cartons and staple guns along with Pop’s, or even grandpa’s, old guitar and a cheap microphone and speakers. The old saying, “fake it until you make it” truly applied to many past, current and even future musical artists.
The music game can be quite tricky for musicians as well as for those of us that pay good money to hear them whisper sweet nothings in our ears or shout at the top of their lungs until our nerves are ready to snap like peanut brittle candy. An artist may spend many years trying to find that perfect hit that will take them over the top, until one day either the fairy song bird or the soulful train of wisdom drops the next slamming beat right in their lap. I would be willing to bet that you would agree with me when I say not every song is for everybody.
Having said that, if the famous musicians of today had given up on their hopes and dreams just because one of the people who heard their music thought they stunk like last year’s gym shorts, there would have been many thousands of unheard number one hits around the world.
If you are a jazz enthusiast and have something to add to make the world a little more jazzy, why not jazz the world up? If you have the musical talent to make a fast beat more bluesy, go for it and paint your notes as blue as you can. The bottom line is to never give up on your own personal rhythm and never feel blue about sharing your creative melodies with the world.
Make your home recording studio rock by obtaining whatever equipment that you can get your hands on to get started on the right track. But please take this advice, don’t just settle for cheap and used freebies just because they are free and available. Spend good money for quality microphones, mixing boards, turntables and all other studio equipment because music is your future and your future is serious business.
